I have been following this series via the trade paperbacks [a collection of single issues in a graphic novel format] and when I look back at it I don’t see how I could have been able to follow it any other way. It’s just too good to take in monthly portions, you need to read this in man sized portions, waiting each month and only getting 22 pages would have been the death of me.

Yorrick and his companions have chosen to head for California and to try and reach Dr.Manns lab in order to resurrect ‘mankind’. A stop over in the sleepy town of Marrisville, Ohio, turns into a confrontation that could spell the end for Yorrick.

This series picks up straight where it left off at the end of the last trade collection. It continues on its ride of brilliantly engineered comedy, reality and science fiction based storytelling and ends with a cliff-hanger that will keep you salivating for more.

Brian K. Vaughan [Runaways, Mystique] proves that his first story with these characters was no flook. This second arc has not lost a step and keeps you thinking and entertained at the turn of every single page.

I might not thought much of Pia Guerra’s [Heroes Anonymous] artwork after reading the first arc but this time she definitely gained another fan. The art is both slick and detailed and her consistency with her characters is great. In a nice addition to this collection we get a nine page sketchbook which shows some of the character creation process which Guerra goes through, very nice stuff.

This book should be dominating the sales charts, so go buy it right now as there is little else out there which can even hold a candle up to this. An awesome story with solid art, this is a must read for all fans.

Score 10/10
